Nations Cup in Austria.

In Austria, Igls track, luge athletes participated in Nations Cup, which provided an opportunity for them to qualify for tomorrow intended 2. Viessmann World Cup.

Like a week ago in Norway, today Latvia was represented by Ulla Zirne, Artūrs Dārznieks, Inārs Kivlenieks, Kristaps Mauriņš, Oskars Gudramovičs and Pēteris Kalniņš. This race was a chance to qualify for the 2nd WC.

As we known, our athletes Andris Šics and Juris Šics, Eliza Tiruma and Mārtiņš Rubenis place in Viessmann World Cup has provided already last year, earning enough points to get into the strongest group of athletes.

The best of our men had Inārs Kivlenieks - 51.014. Also, Kristaps Mauriņš with a result 51,140, entered the top twenty and the right to participate in the 2nd World Cup, but Artūrs Dārznieks with a result 51,899 had to settle for place in the third tenth.

Our only lady, Ulla Zirne also started in today's race and with a result 40.500, won the right to participate in the 2nd World Cup.

Unfortunately our double team O. Gudramovičs / P. Kalnins had mistake at the start and after that it was unable to qualify for tomorrow's race.

Tomorrow race starts at 8:20 local (Austrian) the time when the ladies will start.
