
There was 31 athletes on the start, among them- also two Latvian luge girls - Eliza Tīruma and Ulla Zirne. For both girls this is the debut of the games, and Ulla is also one of the newest members of the Latvian Olympic team.
Their first run the girls started successfully. Eliza crossed the finish line after 50,926 seconds, but Ulla after 51,125 seconds. The first run leader N. Geisenberger respectively loosing about 1.035 seconds and 1.234 seconds.
After the first run Eliza is the 11th, Ulla 15th place.
Race and this season's leader Natalie Geisenberger made a new track and start record already in her first run, thus emphasizing that it was her strong ambition to get an Olympic gold.
