Silver in Challange Cup

In early morning of 17th February, the children sat on the bus and went in the trip, more than 2000 km long, to Innsbruck to take part in one of the biggest youth competition of the season. There was young powerful athletes from 10 countries : Latvia, Germany, Austria, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Georgia, Slovenia, a total of 210 participants .

Latvia was represented with two girls, six boys and two double crew's. The week that was spent in Austria, gave the children a new experience, dealing with the world's strongest young people in the new track.

We are very happy and would like to note the double's athletes : Ričards Sakovičs and Ralfs Vanzovičs won 2nd place, a little behind the other double crew : Aksels Tupe and Kaspars Šļahota, who ranked fourth. In single race Ralfs Bērziņš won the 8th place, 17th place Buglaks Konstantīns, Roberts Millers - 19th place, but Mārtiņš Bots 20th place. For youth B boys competition, Roberts Plūme and Lūkas Krasts runs were perfect, but , becouse of the the light weight and small body stature ( compared to the first place winners ) they ranked 14th and 15th. And yet, thanks to the high motivation of the athlete and determination. Our Girls: Arina Cicjura - 24th place, but Laura Zutere 27th place.

In assessing the overall results of the youth, I am satisfied, however, always want to be better. Organizing such trips, trainer belief is that, after this exeprtiance children assessing the work they have done to generate the knowledge that if there is a desire to continue to climb the career steps, athlete should be assertive and work more. This type of competition for children make a huge investment and boost to their careers.

To go to the competitions in Innsbruck, BJKSS helped Ropažu Stopinu district, Sigulda's region, as well as Riga City Council, Latvian luge federation, Latvian youth support fund and Salaspils youth support fund, as well as parents.
